Botany House Boutique Retreat — Cape Town, South Africa

Five-room boutique retreat below Table Mountain, Cape Town

Botany House was conceived as a response to a specific desire: to create a space where natural living and opulence could coexist in one of Cape Town's most serene corners. Situated at 7 Newport Street in Gardens, directly below the majestic Table Mountain, the retreat operates on a philosophy of intimate scale—just five individually curated rooms ensure that every guest receives personalised attention and is treated as part of the family. The physical space reflects a deliberate aesthetic vision. Interiors blend mid-century modern design with timeless luxury, creating rooms that feel both grounded in nature and refined in comfort. Every piece of furniture and fixture was personally curated from local Cape Town and South African designers, a commitment to regional craft that extends throughout the property. The five suites—two garden-facing rooms, two poolside rooms, and one grand suite with lounge and kitchenette—each offer king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms with rain showers or soaking tubs, and views either toward the oasis garden or Table Mountain itself. The retreat's amenities support the philosophy of slow living. A paradise pool anchors the grounds. Rooms include contemporary conveniences—Wi-Fi, smart TV, Nespresso facilities, air conditioning and underfloor heating—but the emphasis remains on creating a tranquil escape amid Cape Town's vibrant energy. The property welcomes romantic getaways, solo retreats, and small group escapes, with the option to book the entire five-room space for families or larger parties.
