About This Event

Description

Retreat & Renewal is a four-day spiritual retreat at Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, built around guided meditation and yoga in a quiet mountain setting. It is open to friends, couples and individuals, and to both newcomers and experienced practitioners. The weekend is led by yoga and meditation teacher Annabelle Yoo, who brings Buddhist contemplative practice and Ashtanga training to the mat and the cushion.

What to Expect

The retreat balances structure with open time. Contemplative practices are offered as a way to find clarity and fresh perspective on the questions of everyday life, whether those concern work, family, health, relationships or personal aspirations. Between sessions you are free to walk the land, rest, or follow whatever draws you.

Arrival is in the afternoon on the first day, between 2:00 and 5:00 PM. Orientation follows at 5:30 PM, then dinner at 6:00 PM, with time to meet the other participants informally.

On the two full middle days, the rhythm is steady:

- Breakfast, 7:30 to 9:00 AM
- Yoga, 9:00 to 10:15 AM
- Meditation, 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM
- Lunch, 12:30 to 1:30 PM
- A walk to the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, 2:00 PM
- Yoga, 4:30 to 5:30 PM
- Dinner, 6:00 to 7:00 PM

The first full day also closes with an evening social gathering at 7:30 PM.

On the final morning there is an optional hike around the land from 8:15 to 9:15 AM, followed by yoga, meditation, and a closing lunch, with departure after lunch. The schedule is a sample, so timings may shift slightly.

About Annabelle Yoo

Annabelle Yoo has been a student and teacher of yoga and meditation for more than fourteen years. She began teaching under Cyndi Lee at OM Yoga Center in New York City, where a shared devotion to Buddhist teachings met a playful, exploratory approach to practice on the mat. She has also trained in Ashtanga yoga and meditation.

The Setting

Drala Mountain Center sits in the mountains near Red Feather Lakes. The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya is on the grounds, and many people find the daily walk there a quiet anchor for the retreat. All meals and drinks are included, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and the meals are an easy time to talk with fellow participants.

Lodging is chosen at checkout, and the range is wide:

- Dormitories: gender-segregated rooms with beds for seven or eight people, and a shared bathroom with shower stalls down the hall.
- Monk Rooms: private rooms with a bed, closet, large window, and desk and chair, using a shared bathroom. They are an affordable choice for those who want solitude.
- Single and Double Rooms: a dresser, a closet, and an attached three-quarter bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.
- Junior Suite: a queen-size bed, desk, dresser, closet, sitting area, and a private bath with a tub.

Before You Go

This retreat is suited to all levels. You do not need prior experience with yoga or meditation, and established practitioners will find room to deepen their practice at their own pace. The program is taught in English.

Tuition is free, and lodging for two nights is combined at checkout. Meals and drinks are included, and additional nights can be added at a reduced rate. Arrival is in the afternoon of the first day and departure follows lunch on the last.

Common Questions

FAQs

Tuition is $0, and you pay for lodging at checkout, with two nights combined into the price. Meals and drinks are included, and the food is vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free friendly. If you want to stay longer, extra nights are offered at 50% off.
Dormitories sleep up to 7-8 people, are gender-segregated, and use a shared hallway bathroom with shower stalls. Monk Rooms are a lower-cost option with a private room, bed, bedding, closet, large window and desk, but they still use a shared bathroom. The Monk Rooms are in the same hall as the Ridgen Dormitories. More accommodation choices are shown at checkout.
Full days follow a rhythm of breakfast, morning yoga, a meditation session, lunch, an afternoon walk to the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, a second yoga session, and dinner. Day 2 ends with an evening social event. The final morning swaps the stupa walk for a one-hour hike around the land before yoga, meditation and a lunch that doubles as departure. This is a sample schedule, so details may vary.
The organizers describe it as a spacious retreat where you can explore the mountain sanctuary at your own pace. Guided meditation, yoga and Great Stupa visits are scheduled, but you can also stroll the landscape or follow your own inclinations. It suits friends, couples and solo attendees.
