Yoga Teacher Training
Description
The 50hr Acu Yin training is a yoga teacher training in Yin Yoga and meridians, led by Bruna Pons at Suryalila Retreat Centre in Villamartín, in the province of Cádiz, Spain. It looks at Yin Yoga through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and suits yoga practitioners and teachers who want to understand why Yin postures are held the way they are and how to build classes around that understanding.
What You Will Study
The 50 hours are built around the core ideas of Traditional Chinese Medicine as they apply to a Yin practice. You learn the meridians, the theory of yin and yang, and the five elements, and you explore how Yin postures stimulate the energy pathways described in that tradition.
The aim is practical as well as theoretical. You come away with the knowledge to sequence Yin classes with confidence, so that the poses, the meridians and the elements work together instead of being chosen at random. The result is a slower, more considered way of teaching, rooted in a coherent system, for classes that go deeper.
Because this is a Yin and meridians training, expect a good deal of time spent in stillness. Holding the shapes yourself is a natural way to feel what the theory describes before you teach it to others.
About Bruna Pons
Bruna Pons leads the training and is also a musician. Her teaching here is focused on Acu Yin, the pairing of Yin Yoga with the framework of meridians, yin-yang theory and the five elements.
The Setting
Suryalila Retreat Centre sits in Villamartín, Cádiz, in the Andalusian countryside of southern Spain. It is a place that hosts yoga trainings and retreats throughout the year, including other teacher trainings, so the surroundings are well suited to concentrated study and practice. Its programme often draws on the natural parks of Andalusia, which gives the setting a quiet, rural character that suits a Yin-focused course.
Before You Go
This is a 50-hour teacher training, so come prepared to study as well as practise. It is especially relevant if you already teach yoga or are working toward teaching, and want to bring Traditional Chinese Medicine into your Yin classes. Bring a notebook and clothing you can stay comfortable in during long holds.
