Sandra Ingerman, MA, is a teacher of shamanism recognized for bridging ancient cross-cultural healing methods with modern culture. She has taught for 40 years, including workshops worldwide on shamanic journeying, healing, and reversing environmental pollution using spiritual methods. She describes herself as an author, teacher, inspirational motivator, ceremonial leader, guest speaker and researcher.

She is a licensed marriage and family therapist, a professional mental health counselor, and a board-certified expert on traumatic stress. Watkins Body Mind Spirit magazine included her in its 100 Most Spiritually Influential People of 2020. Spirituality and Health magazine chose her as one of the Top 10 Spiritual Leaders of 2013, and the Global Foundation for Integrative Medicine awarded her its 2007 Peace Award.

Sandra has written 12 books, including Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self, Medicine for the Earth, Walking in Light, and The Book of Ceremony: Shamanic Wisdom for Invoking the Sacred in Everyday Life. Awakening to the Spirit World: The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation, which she wrote with Hank Wesselman, won the 2011 COVR Visionary Award and the 2011 IPPY Award. She also co-authored a randomized pilot study on a spiritual retreat for depression in acute coronary syndrome patients, published in Explore in 2011.

In her teaching she encourages students to relax into their journeys, let experience be their guide, and treat shamanism as a lifelong practice of direct revelation. She favors cooperation and collaboration among those practicing shamanism, and she teaches five-day workshops on soul retrieval. Teachers she has authorized are listed on shamanicteachers.com, and she shares weekly podcasts on shamanism with Renee Baribeau.
