Rene Cook

Rene Cook was born in Udaipur, India, and began practicing yoga there at about age eight, under his guru, the late Mr. SundarLal Dak. He has since studied with many teachers in India and in the United States. He began teaching in 2006 at the Hindu Temple in Chicago and has taught at various places since.

His teaching looks beyond the physical postures to overall wellness and the connection of mind, body and spirit. Classes are usually slow in pace, with close attention to the breath and to moving with it.

Rene draws on ancient yogic texts, Tantra, dance, music and life in general, and brings a sensual, spiritual element to the practice. His aim is to help people love and accept themselves as they are, on and off the mat. He describes walking the path of yoga as a daily choice, made from the heart each day.

Through My Heart Chakra he offers yoga, Tantra and meditation as a natural approach to healing. He also gives private one-on-one sessions that include pranayama, chakra and Kundalini meditation, and Reiki and Theta Healing.
